John first started flying with the Air Training Corps in De Havilland Chipmunks, Kirby Cadet, Sedbergh and K21 gliders, and trips in various front line RAF types in the 1980s. With further experience in Piper Cubs and Tiger moths and Turbulents and T6 Texan he finished off his PPL at the first CAA approved flight school set up in the USA. He then completed tail wheel conversion and gained his IMC at Headcorn and then went on to gain the following professional qualifications:
John has lectured at the London Metropolitan University for the aviation Foundation and Degree course on the PPL subjects and teaches on a 1 to 1 or group basis as required at Headcorn.
